Aaron Pauls

A native of Chilliwack, B.C. and an alum of the University of the Fraser Valley men’s golf team, Aaron Pauls joined the program as an assistant coach in 2017.

Pauls’s playing career at UFV began in the fall of 2009 as a walk-on, and throughout his time competing with the Cascades, he collected many individual achievements. He won rookie the year in 2009, was a four-time team MVP, and earned a CCAA All-Canadian nod (2013). Pauls also received the Envision Annual Leadership Award in Athletics (2011-13) and was named an Academic All-Canadian in 2013. In the 2012-2013 season, Pauls was named team captain, and led the Cascades to their first-ever CCAA national championship, taking home CCAA individual silver medalist honours in the process. Pauls’s crowning achievement came in 2014 when he became the first UFV golfer to compete for Team Canada in the World University Golf Championships in Switzerland. One year later, he again competed on the international stage, representing UFV and Canada at the FISU Summer Universiade in Gwangju, South Korea.

Aaron graduated from the kinesiology program at UFV on the Dean’s List in 2014 and entered graduate school at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). During his time at UNLV, his research and studies were concentrated in the areas of motor behavior/learning and the optimization of human performance. Upon successfully defending his thesis, Pauls graduated from UNLV with a Masters in Kinesiology (motor behavior) in December of 2016. Away from the classroom, he spent much of his time around the UNLV golf program, assisting in the construction and delivery of mental skills training to players with mental skills coach Dr. Mark Guadagnoli while also shadowing assistant golf coach Philip Rowe.

Since Pauls joined the Cascades coaching staff, the UFV men’s team has won two PACWEST titles, two CCAA national medals (gold in 2017, bronze in 2018), and a Canadian University/College Championship (2018).

Pauls also serves as a volunteer assistant coach with the UNLV men’s golf team as he pursues a career in coaching at the university level.
