WBB: Gobeil's final homecoming results in big Cascades win

Kamloops BC –   The Cascades smothered Thompson Rivers University Wolfpack 76-27, to sweep the weekend series in Kamloops Saturday afternoon

The Cascades are now 5-1 with the win, and the Wolfpack now sit at 0-6.

How It Happened:
The Cascades pulled away early in the first quarter 13-4 with seven of those points coming from Maddy Gobeil.  The scoring then slowed down, both teams looking for their next bucket.  The Cascades held the Wolfpack to just four points and Esther Allison capped us off with a lay-up to make it 15-4.

UFV quickly edged their way ahead by six more points at the start of the second quarter making it 22-7.  A three-point shot from Bernie Leda pushed the Cascades further by 19 points.  After having numerous players clock in on the scoresheet, the Cascades headed into the second half with a lead of 35-12.

In the third quarter, the story remained the same and the Cascades kept climbing.  Olivia Randall helped The Wolfpack grab a few more points with three-point jump shot but the Cascades remained hungry and closed off the third quarter 52-24.

First year Ankita Chopra entered the game for the Cascades and added her first three-point jump shot to her record starting off the final quarter.  The Cascades continued with their large run of scoring and held the Wolfpack to only three points in the fourth quarter taking the game 76-27.

Notable:
Maddy Gobeil led the game in her hometown scoring 28 points and seven rebounds.  Ankita Chopra scored her first points as a member of the Cascades.

Quotable:
UFV head coach Al Tuchscherer

"I think it meant a lot to her. It's a special weekend for her and she has a lot of friends and family up here and she got a bit emotional after the game and thanked the team for playing hard for her." Tuchscherer said of Gobeil.

"I think TRU played a lot tougher tonight, and they made us do a few things early on, but we ended up wearing them down. It gave us a chance to play some of our younger players, and they can play they just need that bit of experience. It's good to see them out there and they all did some good things this weekend."

What's Next:
The Cascades are back at the UFV Athletic Centre for a game on November 22 at 6pm and November 23 at 4pm against the University of Victoria Vikes.
