Julia Tuchscherer and

Schedule & Results
Leading by just six at the half, the defending national champion Ravens used a 12-2 run early in the third quarter to pull away from the Cascades in the tournament opener. Jacqueline Urban added 12 points for the Ravens, with Kyna-Jade Poulin adding 11.
Carleton will now face either Saint Mary's or Queen's in the second semifinal on Saturday night, with UFV playing the loser of that quarterfinal matchup in the first consolation semifinal tomorrow night.
Julia Tuchscherer and second team All-Canadian
Maddy Gobeil led the Cascades with 15 points each. Tuchscherer added 13 rebounds and two blocked shots in the effort. Cascades guard
Bernie Leda returned from an injury that kept her out of the Canada West playoffs and put up a strong performance with 10 points, five steals, and three assists.
UFV finished with 15 fewer shot attempts than Carleton, due in part to Carleton forcing nine more turnovers with the bulk of that difference coming in the first half.
"I think early in the game you could see that Carleton is the more experienced team," noted UFV head coach
Al Tuchscherer.
"They came out of the gates pretty hard against us and I think the difference in experience showed there, but I was happy with our response. We really stood our ground in the second quarter and made a game of it. They just made made more shots than us down the stretch."
Pocrnic was excellent in the first quarter, scoring 10 of her 25 points, leading the favourites to a 29-16 lead.
Fraser Valley went on a run of their own in the second quarter, in a game with an incredibly high pace in the first half. A 10-2 UFV run put them back in the game, as they trailed 37-31 at the half.
However, a 12-2 Carleton run to start the third quarter, which eventually saw them outscore UFV 22-12, put the game out of reach for the Ravens.
Semifinal #2 is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. on Saturday night at Saville Centre, while the first consolation semifinal will get underway at 5:00 p.m. MT tomorrow.
