WBB: Tuchscherer scores 23 second half points, but Cascades comeback bid falls short on Friday

Abbotsford, BC – Julia Tuchscherer scored 23 second half points as the UFV Cascades battled back from a slow start, and a 15 point deficit at the half, but a fourth quarter push from the UBC Okanagan Heat saw the visitors take the win 70-64 on Friday night at the UFV Athletic Centre.

The win sees UBCO move to 3-2 on the season, while UFV drops to 2-3 with the loss.

How it Happened:
UBCO pounced to a 14-4 lead in early in the first quarter, before taking a 24-11 lead into the second. The Heat would continue their strong play through the second quarter, as Aiko Williams had a game-high nine points in the opening half, and Lily Pink added eight points, five assists, and four rebounds to give them a 43-28 lead at the break.

The Cascades came out flying in the third, led by Julia Tuchscherer who had 11 points and three rebounds in the frame, as UFV outscored the Heat 24-9 to tie the game up at 52 going into the fourth.

Tuchscherer continued her dominant play in the fourth, scoring all 12 of UFV's points in the frame, but five points apiece from Tsuki Tsuzuki and Stefanie Hart helped UBCO pull away in the dying minutes to come away with the win.
