WBB: Tuchscherer scores 27 as Cascades take down Vikes

Victoria, BC –  Julia Tuchscherer scored a game-high 27 points and added eight rebounds as the UFV Cascades came away with the 73-57 victory over the University of Victoria Vikes in their first game of 2026.

UFV moves to 5-7 on the season with the win, while Victoria falls to 6-6 in Canada West play.

How it happened:
Five points from UFV's Miah Schuurman at the end of the first quarter gave the Cascades a seven-point advantage going into the second. The teams played fairly even throughout the frame, but a Fania Taylor triple closed out the half to put UFV up by 13.
Victoria would cut the deficit to eight at the end of the third, but eight points from Tuchscherer over a stretch of 2:01 in the latter stages of the fourth would put UFV up by sixteen as they went on to close it out from there.

Notable:
Tuchscherer led all scorers with 27 points, while adding eight rebounds. Schuurman added 18 points and four steals. Both players shot 7-7 from the free throw line in the game.

Makena Anderson led the Vikes with 19 points in the game, while Avery Geddes had 17.

Up next:
The Cascades and Vikes meet once again on Saturday, with tipoff scheduled for 5pm in Victoria.
