BASE: Cascades fall in opening game of CCBC World Series

The University of the Fraser Valley Baseball club fell 8-1 to the Okanagan College Coyotes in the opening game of the Canadian College Baseball Conference (CCBC) World Series on Thursday.

How it Happened:
The Cascades' offence threatened early but were unable to convert, as they stranded runners in scoring position in each of the first four innings.

The Coyotes took advantage of the missed chances from UFV, scoring one in the third before a pair of singles from brought home four more runs in the fourth. A Three run home run by Nolan King in the bottom of the sixth gave the second seeded team an 8-0 lead.

Ty Crowe broke the shutout for the Cascades in the eighth inning, as his double drove home Ty Hall from second base.

Cascades Top Performers:
Catcher Oliver Para picked up two hits on four at bats and one walk in the contest, while Ty Crowe notched two hits on four at bats including the team's lone RBI.

Graham Stack pitched two innings for the UFV squad, picking up a strikeout and allowing just one hit and one walk in relief.

The Cascades will now wait on results tomorrow morning to find out who they will play in an elimination game Friday at 5p.m. PST.
