Despite a great performance from rookie
Jared Hall at the plate, the UFV Cascades baseball club saw their Canadian College Baseball Conference (CCBC) season come to an end as they fell 8-5 in the elimination matchup with Edmonton Collegiate.
How it Happened:
The Cascades got off to a hot start, scoring off a Hall triple in the first before
Keenan Hilton brought him home to give UFV a 2-0 lead. The Cascades got into trouble in the fifth, allowing six runs to surrender the lead 7-3. A two-run homerun by Hall in the top of the sixth threatened to pull the Cascades within striking distance, but an Edmonton run in the bottom of the frame reestablished a three-run lead that would not be touched.
Cascades Top Performers:
Hall scored three runs, and notched three RBI's as he went three for five on the day to close out his rookie season. Hilton picked up three hits and an RBI on the sacrifice fly, while
Ty Crowe had three hits and scored a run in his five at bats.
Mason Chien pitched four and a third picking up seven strikeouts while allowing four hits and seven runs.
Andrew Vander Veen gave up just one hit in his two scoreless innings on the mound.
