Brooklynn Franzon scored in the 42
nd minute, as the UFV Cascades picked up a 1-1 draw with the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack on Friday night at Rotary Stadium.
The result moves the Cascades to 5-2-3 on the season, while the WolfPack improve to 4-4-2 so far.
How it happened:
TRU rookie Kat Stewart opened the scoring for the visitors in the 29
th minute, as they capitalized on a loose ball in the box, firing it into the bottom corner on the volley.
The Cascades found the equalizer in the 42
nd minute, as Franzon found space at the top of the box. Her first touch shot was placed perfectly into the right-hand side of the net, and out of the reach of a diving Cassandra De Amaral in the TRU goal.
Both teams traded chances in the second half. UFV's
Kiana Langston found herself on a couple of partial breakaways late in the frame but was unable to beat the goalkeeper. On the other end, TRU had a chance to win it late into stoppage time, but a shot from Anika Black was turned away off the crossbar by Cascades' goalie
Kareena Sahota to secure a point for each team.
