The UFV Cascades dropped a five-set contest (17-25, 25-16, 25-21, 21-25, 11-15) to the Brandon University Bobcats on Saturday in Manitoba.
With the result, the Cascades drop to 12-2 on the season, while Brandon moves to 2-12 this year.
How it happened:
With the opening set tied at 17, Brandon scored the final eight points of the set to take a lead in the match.Â
UFV hit back in the second, scoring a six-point run to go up 12-6, before closing out the set 25-16 after a pair of
Mandi Feist aces.Â
The Cascades took a two sets to one lead after scoring five of the last six points in the third to win it 25-21, but a late four-point run from the Bobcats in the fourth helped them force a decisive fifth set.
Brandon took an early 4-1 lead in the final set, and that proved too much to overcome for the Cascades, as Brandon closed it out on an Avery Burgar kill.
Notable:
Talia Attieh led the Cascades with 14 kills, while
Mandi Feist chipped in 13.
Kinna Fisher had a team-high 23 assists, and
Cailin Bitter added 21 on the night.
