WVB: Cascades see defeat in home opener against TWU

The UFV Cascades women's volleyball team dropped a three-set decision, 15-25, 22-25, 25-27, against the TWU Spartans in their season opener at the UFV Athletic Centre on Thursday night.

How it happened:
TWU raced out to a 17-10 lead in the opening set, as they took the first frame 15-15.

Back-to-back Kaylee Plouffe kills gave TWU an 8-4 lead in the second, before a Naomi Unger service run gave UFV an 18-17 advantage. The Spartans struck back quickly taking a 20-18 lead on their way to close it out with a Maryn Boldon kills, 25-22.

A pair of Zoe Arca service aces pulled UFV back withing two in the second set, before the Cascades took a 23-22 lead. Three Cascades service errors down the stretch broke up any momentum the team built, and another Boldon kill closed out the match, 27-25.

Notable:
Mandi Feist led UFV with 13 kills, while Talia Attieh added nine, and Lauren Attieh had six. Rookie libero Makena Hudson notched five digs in her first start for the Cascades.
