WBB: Cascades rebound to split weekend with Spartans in Langley

Abbotsford, BC – It was a reversal of fortunes from the previous night for the UFV Cascades, as they got off to a great start on their way to a 60-51 win over the Trinity Western Spartans on Saturday at the Langley Events Centre.

Both teams see their records go to 2-2 with the early season result.

How it happened:
The Cascades got off to a flying start in the opening quarter, and a Bernie Leda triple gave them a 20-8 lead.

The Spartans battled back throughout the second, and a Sydney Bradshaw three pointer tied it all back up at 23 at the midway point. The teams traded buckets for the rest of the frame, and a Kyanna Knodel layup gave UFV a four-point lead at the break.

The Cascades started the third quarter on fire, opening on an 11 point run, and with 11 second half points from Julia Tuchscherer UFV was able to slow down the pace and cruise to the finish 60-51.

Notable:
Julia Tuchscherer led the way for UFV with 17 points and nine rebounds in the game, while Fania Taylor followed up on a strong game Friday with 16 points and eight rebounds.

Collette Van der Hoven had a team-high 12 points for the Spartans, while Bradshaw had 11 points and four assists.
