Abbotsford, BC –
Fania Taylor scored a team-high 15 points on Friday, but an early surge from the Trinity Western Spartans saw the Cascades fall 75-52 at the Langley Events Centre.Â
The Cascades drop to 1-2 on the year with the loss, while the Spartans improve to 2-1.
How it happened:
After
Julia Tuchscherer scored the opening bucket for the Cascades, a huge surge from the Spartans saw them go on a 16-0 run to take full control in the early going.Â
The Cascades battled back, and a
Carmen Folka triple in the second corner pulled the visitors back within nine. However, another Spartan push was finished off at the end of the half by a Lola Reimer three pointer to make it 48-30.
The Spartans cruised from there, as they shot 13-26 from three point range in the game, and out rebounded the Cascades 41-29 as they closed it out 75-52.
Notable:
Taylor led the way for UFV, scoring 15 points and adding four rebounds, while Tuchscherer added 14 points and six assists, and
Miah Schuurman had 13 points.
Cassidy Buchanan had 18 points to lead the Spartans, while Myrlaine Shelvey added 15 points off the bench.Â
