Abbotsford, BC – For the second straight night the UFV Cascades captured the opening set, but saw the UBCO Heat take a four-set victory at the UFV Athletic Centre. The win moves UBCO to 7-1, while UFV falls to 0-8.
How it Happened:
The Cascades built on their opening set from Friday, jumping out to a 15-11 lead, but the Heat stormed back with a pair of kills from Thys Westrate to tie it up at 18. After a huge kill from
Steven Yarad gave the Cascades some momentum, UFV found kills from
Hudson Brandsma and
Roan McCarthy to close out the set 25-21.
The Heat came out flying in the second taking a 4-0 lead, before the Cascades would tie it up at 18 on a
Kian Bos ace. A pair of Westrate kills gave UBCO a late lead and they would finish off the set 25-23 on a kill by Xander van Driel.
UFV jumped out to a 16-10 lead in the third, but a series of small runs saw them battle back and eventual take the set 25-20.Â
UBCO carried that strong momentum into the fourth, grabbing an early lead and handling a UFV pushback late to close out the match 25-17.
