Abbotsford, BC – The UFV Cascades dropped a three-set decision to the Brandon University Bobcats on Friday night in Abbotsford. 

Wit the win the Bobcats improve to 4-7, while the Cascades fall to 0-11 this season. 

How it happened
Brandon jumped out to an 11-6 lead early in the first, but the Cascades would battle back to level the score at 13. The Bobcats would take advantage of a 7-3 run to reach 20 points first on their way to the 25-21 set win.

A dominant start to the second set saw the Bobcats take a 20-12 lead and despite a late pushback, they finished it off 25-18.

With the score 5-4 for Brandon in the third, the Bobcats would find 7 of the next eight points to build a 12-5 lead, but UFV would battle back with a 10-3 run to tie up the set. The visitors wouldn't be held back on Friday however, as they took advantage of a few UFV errors in the late stages to seal the set 25-21.

Notable:
Roan McCarthy led the way for UFV with 9 kills on the night, while libero Yahia Elsayed notched a match-high 13 digs, and setter Silas Van Huizen had 18 assists.

Thomas Friesen had 10 kills to lead the Bobcats, while Liam Pauls added nine. Setter Kale Fisher had 27 assists in the win.

The two teams matchup once again on Saturday, with the first serve set for 5:45pm at the UFV Athletic Centre.
