Prince George, BC – The UFV Cascades grabbed an early lead and carried it right to the finish as they closed out a 62-51 victory over the UNBC Timberwolves on Saturday in Prince George.
The win sees the Cascades move to 8-7 on the season to sit in third place in the Canda West Pacific Division. Meanwhile, UNBC drops to 1-13 in seventh spot.
How it happened:
Esther Allison led the Cascades in the early going, scoring five points in UFV's 8-0 run to start the game. A
Kyanna Knodel layup in the middle of the frame would push the lead to 13 points, and a
Jessica Parkinson Jumper would make it a 16-point game for UFV in the second. UNBC would cut the gap back to 12 at the end of the half, coincidently the same number of points Allison had to lead all scorers at that mark.
Julia Tuchscherer took the reins for UFV in the second half, scoring a game-high 10 second half points. The Timberwolves would muster a late push with a 10-2 run to finish the game, but the Cascades would manage the game out for the 62-51 victory.

Quotable:
UFV head coach
Al Tuchscherer
"We had a nice start and then we really seemed quick to get frustrated for the remainder of the game. It didn't serve us well, but there are many lessons we can take from this game."
"Coming out of the break getting 4 wins has been nice. But we still need to continue to get better if we are going to compete with the top teams in the division - which happens to be our next 5 games."
