Abbotsford, BC – A second half goal from
Kiana Langston pulled the UFV Cascades level, but a late winner gave the Victoria Vikes a 2-1 victory on senior night at Rotary Stadium in Abbotsford.
The Vikes will now move on to the Canada West postseason, while UFV's season comes to a close.
How it Happened:
Victoria's Brianne McLeish opened the scoring in the 27
th minute. She ran on to a through ball from Scarlett McNeely, and made no mistake tucking it into the bottom right corner of the Cascades goal.
The Cascades would strike back in the 61
st minute, as
Anastasia Kalpidis found
Eesha Mudaliar at the edge of the box, and she played a gorgeous cross to Langston at the back post, and she calmly tucked it in.
The Vikes found their winner in the 81
st when Claire Nicholas' cross found it's way to Folawe Balogun who slid it into the goal to seal it.
Notable:
Langston's 15
th career goal ties her with Shelby Beck for seventh all-time in the Cascades program record books.
UFV celebrated the final game for graduating seniors
Camryn Lyon,
Sarah Belcher,
Jaidyn Jackson, Jenna Ericsson, and
Kiana Langston on Sunday.
