Abbotsford, BC – The UFV Cascades season came to an end, with a three-set defeat (36-38, 11-25, 23-25) to the Manitoba Bisons on Saturday at the UFV Athletic Centre. 

With the result, the Cascades end the season at 0-20, while Manitoba finishes 14-6.

How it Happened:
UFV got off to a great start, holding a 21-19 lead in the opening set, and despite Manitoba tying it up at 22, the Cascades would have a Roan McCarthy ace, and a Hudson Brandsma kill to set up set point. The Bisons would not be undone however, as they scored two straight points to tie it up at 24, before the teams began trading blow for blow to find themselves deadlocked at 36. The Bisons would find a kill from Nicoles Carter and a UFV error to take a hard-fought set win. 

Manitoba would ride the momentum from the opening set win to cruise to a 25-11 victory in set two. 

UFV would regain a bit of their footing in the third, leading by four at multiple points, but with the score 21-17 for the Cascades, Manitoba would score six consecutive points to jump ahead, and kills from Rowan Krahn and Carter closed out the three-set win. 

Notable:
UFV senior outside hitter Comrie Engbers led all players with 16 kills in the match, while Hudson Brandsma had 12, and Silas Van Huizen had 31 assists.

Nicoles carter had 13 kills for the Bisons, while Spencer Grahame had nine, and Alex Witt had 33 assists.

UFV celebrated graduating athlete Comrie Engbers, as well as acknowledging the program's departing players Roan McCarthy, Silas Van Huizen, Hudson Brandsma, and Steven Yarad in a ceremony pregame.
