The Cascades put together perhaps the most impressive performance of the Canada West weekend last Saturday, bouncing back from a 30-point loss to the U SPORTS No. 5-ranked Alberta Golden Bears the previous evening to earn an 80-73 upset win.

This weekend they face another Edmonton squad, albeit one currently residing at the opposite end of the spectrum standings-wise. The Griffins are winless through three weeks, and will no doubt be driven to get into the win column on their home court.

Cascades head coach Adam Friesen noted that his team needs to bring the same type of energy and intensity they had last Saturday vs. Alberta if they're to build on that performance at MacEwan.

"Our competitiveness hasn't been there for both nights of a weekend yet," he said, alluding to his team's 0-3 record in Friday games, vs. 2-1 on Saturdays.

"MacEwan is a much better team than their record indicates, and we're expecting them to play their best basketball and to have as much energy as they've shown all year. We're just trying to build off the Alberta win and continue setting our goals high. It motivates the guys to come to practice and continue working."

Players to watch: Andrew Morris notched his first two double-digit scoring performances of the season last week vs. Alberta, including 21 points in Saturday's win. The Cascades need more of the same moving forward from the fifth-year wing, who is averaging 7.2 points per game. The Griffins' offensive catalyst has been third-year guard Jake Notice – he's the team's runaway leading scorer, averaging 14.5 points per game and shooting 39.4 per cent from beyond the arc.
