THE MATCH-UP

The Cascades, coming off a bye week, return to action with a match-up of nationally ranked teams. The Chargers have a firm grip on second place in the PACWEST, while the UFV squad will be looking to make headway in the standings after slipping to fourth place. The two teams split a weekend set in Abbotsford back in November, with the Chargers winning the opener in four sets and the Cascades bouncing back for a decisive three-set triumph the next day.

RECENT FORM

The Cascades have dropped their last three matches, most recently suffering a sweep at the hands of two-time defending national champion VIU. The Chargers, meanwhile, are 8-2 over their last 10 games, including four straight wins to open 2020.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Kara Williams, UFV – The fourth-year setter runs a diverse offensive attack, averaging 5.90 assists per set, and provides outstanding leadership for the Cascades.

Hannah May, Camosun – The sophomore outside hitter is coming off a big weekend, racking up 20 kills and 12 digs over the course of two wins over the Capilano Blues. For the season, May ranks 13th in the PACWEST in kills per set (2.14) and 15th in total offence (2.63).

QUOTABLE

"We weren't really in the gym too much over our bye week because of the snow days, but I think it was nice that we were able to rest a lot during that break. We're going to be doing a lot of game-play this week in practice to prepare, and I think we'll be ready for the weekend." – UFV third-year left side Amanda Matsui, on how her team spent its bye week

"I think we need to follow the game-plan we have. There have been times we've known exactly what the other team is going to do, but we fall short of executing on our side. That'll be important against Camosun, because they're a super-feisty team and they have a lot of impact players on the outside." – Matsui, on what her team needs to do to find success vs. Camosun
