THE MATCH-UP

The Cascades host their final PACWEST volleyball games on Saturday, as next season will see the UFV volleyballers move up to Canada West. Crosstown rival Columbia Bible College is the guest. The Bearcats have been eliminated from playoff contention, while the Cascades can climb as high as fourth in the PACWEST with a pair of wins. UFV has won both head-to-head match-ups this season, winning in three sets on Oct. 11 and repeating the feat on Oct. 12.

RECENT FORM

The Cascades are coming off a weekend split with the College of the Rockies Avalanche, winning an epic five-setter last Friday and falling in four on Saturday. CBC has yet to win since the calendar flipped to 2020 – their last victory was in their final match of 2019, a five-setter over Capilano.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Chelsea Kidd and Cassidy King, UFV – The Cascades' two fifth-year players will be honoured in a post-game Senior Night ceremony on Saturday. Both have meant a great deal to the program over their years on campus, and both serve as team captains this season. Right side Kidd's 1.78 kills per set are third-most on the Cascades, and she's coming off a monster weekend at COTR which saw her hammer 16 and 14 kills on back-to-back nights. Libero King ranks fifth on the team with 121 digs, and brings inspirational leadership to the squad.

Janae Bruinsma, CBC – The sophomore outside hitter from Aldergrove has had a solid campaign, ranking 12th in PACWEST in kills (2.22) and 15th in total offence (2.54) on a per-set basis.

QUOTABLE

"I think that playing my last home game could be hard, but my focus going into the week is just to absorb every moment and stay connected to my teammates, my coaches, this gym, and everyone who's been part of my experience here." – King, looking ahead to Senior Night

"When I think about it, I'm just so thankful for having the support of the entire athletic department over the past five years. It's going to be super-complete, finishing off five years and having all the people who love and support me in the gym. I just think it's going to be magical, no matter the result. I'm just going to enjoy every touch." – Kidd, also contemplating Senior Night
