University of the Fraser Valley basketball players
Vick Toor and
Deanna Tuchscherer have been honoured by Canada West after helping their teams advance in the conference playoffs.
Toor is the Canada West men's second star of the week, while Tuchscherer is the women's third star of the week.
Toor stepped up in the clutch for the Cascades men's squad, sparking a thrilling playoff victory over the Winnipeg Wesmen on Friday. The third-year point guard from Kent, Wash. stuffed the stat sheet, racking up a game-high 19 points along with nine rebounds, four assists and three steals as UFV rallied from a 13-point halftime deficit to
win 92-84 in overtime.
With the win, Toor and the Cascades move on to the Canada West quarter-finals, where they'll take on the Calgary Dinos on the road Friday (5:30 p.m. PT,
CanadaWest.tv presented by Co-op).
The men's first and third stars, respectively, were Coda Gordon (Calgary Dinos, hockey) and Quinn Benjafield (UBC Thunderbirds, hockey).

Rookie standout Tuchscherer excelled in her first career Canada West playoff game, helping the UFV women's basketball team to
a 76-54 victory over the Thompson Rivers WolfPack on Friday.
The 6'1" forward from Chilliwack, B.C. poured in a game-high 20 points with a highly efficient shooting line (8-of-13 from the field, 1-of-2 from three-point range) and added four rebounds and three assists as the Cascades pulled away in the fourth quarter.
With its 12th straight win, UFV punched its ticket to the Canada West quarter-finals. They'll play the Alberta Pandas on Thursday in Calgary (7 p.m. PT,
CanadaWest.tv presented by Co-op).
The CW women's first and second stars of the week, respectively, were Kaitlyn Ross (Mount Royal Cougars, hockey) and Tory Micklash (UBC Thunderbirds, hockey).
