Abbotsford, BC –
Emerson Toop scored in the fourth minute, but a pair of UBC Okanagan Heat goals gave them the full three points on Sunday at Rotary Stadium in Abbotsford.
The Cascades fall to 2-5-1 with the result, while UBCO moves to 4-4-1 on the season.
How it happened:
For the third time this weekend, a
Camryn Lyon corner resulted in a goal for the UFV Cascades, as the ball fell to Toop in the box. After her first attempt on goal was blocked, she managed to slide the second attempt across the line.
Sophia Clarke reponded in the 33
rd minute for UBCO, as she got her head on an Abigail Taneda corner and directed it into the goal.
The Heat took the lead in the 62
nd minute, as an attempted UFV clearence was blocked by Clarke and rebounded back into the Cascades goal.
Notable:
Lyon picked up her third assist of the weekend on the Cascades goal, while Toop picked up her third goal of the season.
Quotable:
UFV head coach Ari Adams
"We started out the better team. I thought we had them in the first half, but unfortunately our errors lost us points again today. They are simple mistakes, but they have happened multiple times this year."
"There are positives from our younger players again for next year, but it's a tough loss because we were in this again today."
