WSOC: Langston scores as Cascades fall 4-1 to Vikes

Abbotsford, BC – Kiana Langston scored her second goal in two games, but it was too late to salvage a result as the UFV Cascades fell 4-1 to the Victoria Vikes on Sunday afternoon at Rotary Stadium.

The loss sees the Cascades drop to 1-3 on the season, while the Vikes improve to 3-1-1.

How it happened:
The Vikes opened the scoring in the 27th minute. A long diagonal ball from Sophie Fingarson found Ruby Nicholas in stride, who slotted it past UFV keeper Addy Chen.

Victoria kept pushing before the half and after a scramble in the UFV box the ball fall to Brianne McLeish who managed to force it into the net to make it 2-0.

After a ball struck a UFV arm in the box early in the second half, Nicholas stepped up and placed the penalty kick into the right corner for her second tally of the game.

The Cascades answered back in the 68th minute, as Eesha Mudaliar picked up a turnover and unleashed a powerful long range shot that struck the crossbar. Langston was first to react to the rebound and tapped in the header to cut the deficit to two.

Just four minutes later, Taiya Scorey made it 4-1 for Victoria. The midfielder hammered a free kick from 38 yards out that found its way into the top left corner.
