MSOC: Cascades comeback falls short in Friday loss to Spartans

Abbotsford, BC – The UFV Cascades got goals from Aidan Fitzgerald and Adam Szymanski to come back from a two-goal deficit, but a late goal from the TWU Spartans gave them all three points on Friday in Abbotsford.

The loss drops the Cascades record to 6-3-3 on the season, while TWU moves to 4-6-2.

How it Happened:
Emmanuel Dan-Adokien scored twice for TWU in the opening half. His first marker came in the 10th minute after cutting in from the left wing he powered a low shot into the corner. He would double his team's advantage in the 21st minute, when a long ball over the top from Adam Hajdecki sent him in alone.

The Cascades pushed hard in the second half, having a chance cleared off the goal line, before a second yellow card was given to TWU's Kieran Eve in the 64th minute. UFV would take advantage immediately, as Fitzgerald scored a looping header just one minute later.

The Cascades pulled even when Szymanski headed home a Beckham Hatch corner in the 71st minute, but TWU answered back just five minutes later when Francis Powell scored on a counter.

Notable:
The Cascades honoured three graduating players, Beckham Hatch, Adriano Consiglio, and Harjoven Sidhu, pregame in their annual senior night celebration.

Next Up:
The Cascades and Spartans meet up once again to finish off the home-and-home set on Saturday at 7:15pm in Langley.
