Abbotsford, BC – The UFV Cascades hit a combined .310 on Saturday night, as they cruised to a three-set victory over the UBC Okanagan Heat, 25-10, 25-21, 25-22. 

After winning in four sets the previous night, UFV improves to 5-3 on the season, while UBCO drops to 3-5.

How it Happened:
The Cascades were dominant in the opening set, hitting a combined .478 as they easily took the opener 25-10.

UBCO showed some fight in the second set, trading points with the Cascades to 14-14, but back-to-back kills from Mandi Feist and a Lauren Attieh ace gave UFV an 18-14 lead. The Heat chipped away at the deficit in the remainder of the set, but another Lauren Attieh kill finished it off 25-21.

The teams traded early runs in the third, once again finding themselves tied at 14. Teams would trade shots to be level at 20, but UFV's Talia Attieh took over down the stretch. The outside hitter picked up a block and three kills in the final seven points of the match to seal the UFV sweep. 

Notable:
Talia Attieh led the match with 11 kills, while Lauren Attieh chipped in 10 kills and two aces, and setter Cailin Bitter had 29 assists and two aces of her own. Rookie middle Andi Calon had five kills and no errors on eight swings, to go with an ace in her second consecutive start.

Natalie Funk led the Heat with seven kills, while Faith Solecki added six. 

The Cascades hit .310 overalll as a team in the match, while UBCO was held to just .109.

The Cascades now head on the road to close out their fall semester schedule with their next games coming on November 28 and 29 against the University of Calgary.
