Edmonton, AB - The UFV Cascades dropped a three-set match (22-25, 14-25, 16-25) to the nation's No. 3 ranked Alberta Golden Bears on Saturday in Edmonton.
The result sees Alberta move to 5-1 on the season, while UFV continues to look for their first win of the season at 0-6.
How it Happened:
The Cascades started strong, trading points with Alberta in the early part of the set and a
Hudson Brandsma ace gave UFV a 17-16 lead. However, three straight Golden Bears blocks flipped the advantage, and a Jacob Sargeant kill finished off the set 25-22.
A six-serve run by Jarvis page in the second gave Alberta a 14-8 lead, as they took total control taking the second set 25-14.
Despite a battle from the Cascades, a 25-16 scoreline closed out the match for Alberta in the third.
Notable:
Roan McCarthy led the Cascades with nine kills, while Sarich posted six, and setter Silas van Huizen had 21 assists.
Sargeant had a match-high 11 kills for Alberta, and Matt Shand chipped in eight in the win.

The Cascades return home next week for a pair of matches against the UBC Okanagan Het on November 14 and 15. First serve is set for 6pm and 4pm respectively, with both available to be seen live and on demand at canadawest.tv.
