Kamloops, BC – The UFV Cascades showed resiliency, but in the end it was late runs that allowed the TRU WolfPack to claim a three-set win (25-18, 25-19, 25-23) to improve to 5-10 on the season. Meanwhile, the Cascades drop to 0-13 with the result.
How it happened:
With the opening set tied at 14, TRU found six of the next seven points to take a 20-15 advantage, and they would keep rolling from there closing out the set 25-18.
It was another late run in the second that proved the difference, as the teams were tied at 17 before an Alex Howard kill and an ace from Drew Pike started an 8-2 run that finished off the frame for the WolfPack.
UFV trailed by five in the early stages of the third, but a
Hudson Brandsma kill tied it up at 19, and a WolfPack error would give the Cascades a lead. It was short lived however, as three kills from Ibbetson in quick succession flipped the lead, and after trading points a kill from Howard would seal the match 25-23.
Notable:
Roan McCarthy led UFV with 11 kills in the match, while
Hudson Brandsma had six. Libero
Yahia Elsayed had 7 digs and setter
Silas Van Huizen had 23 assists in the match.
Ibbetson had a match-leading 17 kills for TRU, while Howard chipped in 10. Walker Sodaro had 34 assists for the WolfPack.
