Kamloops, BC – The UFV Cascades got off to a flying start by taking the opening set, but three straight set wins by the hosting TRU WolfPack gave them the 3-1 (22-25, 25-19, 25-16, 25-20) victory on Saturday in Kamloops. The win improves TRU's record to 6-10 on the season, while UFV drops to 0-14.
How it happened:
UFV came out of the gates swinging, taking a commanding 13-6 lead early in the first set after a pair of
Hudson Brandsma kills. The WolfPack wouldn't go quietly however and scored 10 of the next 14 points in the set to get back within one. A
Comrie Engbers ace would give UFV a touch of breathing room, and eventually a
Roan McCarthy kill would finish the set 25-22.
The teams traded runs throughout the second, but TRU would find the late opportunity, securing the final four points of the frame to take it 25-19.
The WolfPack would take advantage of another couple of runs in the middle of the third to claim it 25-16, and they started off the fourth just as hot as an Alex Howard ace put them up 13-7. The Cascades pushed back late, but it wasn't enough as another Howard kill would finish off the match.
Notable:
Ibbetson continued to lead the way for TRU with 16 kills and 19 points in the match. Parker Bailey added 12 kills, and setter Walker Sodaro tallied 43 assists.
Roan McCarthy shouldered the load offensively for the Cascades with 18 of the team's 39 kills.

The Cascades now head on the road for a pair of matches against the Saskatchewan Huskies next Friday and Saturday in Saskatoon.
