MVB: Cascades fall to Bisons in three

Abbotsford, BC – The Manitoba Bison's men's volleyball team improved to 13-6 on the season after a three-set win (25-17, 25-20, 25-19) over the UFV Cascades on Friday at the UFV Athletic Centre. 

UFV falls to 0-19 on the season with the result. 

How it Happened:
UFV's Hudson Brandsma would lead all hitters with seven kills in the opening frame, but a 10-2 Manitoba run in the late stages of the set would give them the 25-17 lead.

The teams found themselves tied up at 16 in the second set, but a pair of Bisons runs tipped them over the edge, as they took a 2-0 lead with the 25-20 set win.

UFV took a 13-12 lead in the third after a pair of kills from Roan McCarthy and another from Comrie Engbers, but a 10-2 run followed to give the Bisons full control as they went on to finish the match in 3 sets.

Notable:
UFV's Hudson Brandsma had a match-high h13 kills, while McCarthy added 10. Rookie setter Tayven Magnowski finished with a team-high 27 set assists, two aces, and nine digs.

Manitoba's Owen Weeked had a team-high 12 kills, while Eric Ogarenko had nine, and Sammy Ludwig had 26 assists.

Up next:
The Cascades will close out their regular season on Saturday at the UFV Athletic Centre in the rematch with the Bisons. Saturday's match will also include a ceremony celebrating a number of graduating senior players from UFV.
