Abbotsford, BC – A five-goal first half saw the UBC Thunderbirds blast past the UFV Cascades on Friday night at Rotary Stadium.
The result sees the Cascades go to 1-2 on the season, while UBC remains perfect on the year so far at 3-0.
How it Happened:
UBC struck five times in the first 32 minutes of the game, jumping out to a massive lead, but the Cascades regrouped at halftime to play out the final 50 plus minutes of game time scoreless.
UBC's Maddy Norman opened the scoring just 25 seconds in with a shot from outside the box that found the top right corner.
Norman would then turn provider, finding Bailey Doerksen to make it 2-0. Chloe van Schalwyk would chip in another before Norman would find her second of the match to make it 4-0 in the 29
th minute. Ella Santarsieri would close out the scoring just after the half hour mark.
The Cascades pressed UBC throughout the second half, but were unable to breakthrough with a goal.
Notable:
The Thunderbirds have now won 37 consecutive matches in Canada West play, and have not conceded a goal since October 18, 2024 when UFV alumnus Jasdeep Dhaliwal found the back of the net.

UFV now gets set for their home opening weekend next Friday and Saturday at Rotary Stadium. The Cascades women's soccer team will look to rebound on Saturday as they take on the Thompson Rivers WolfPack at 5:30pm at Rotary Stadium.
