WSOC: Cascades and WolfPack play to scoreless draw

Abbotsford, BC - The UFV Cascades and TRU WolfPack battled it out on in a tight contest on Saturday at Rotary Stadium, where a single goal would have changed the narrative, but in the end the match finished scoreless.

The result sees the Cascades record move to 1-2-1 on the season, while TRU goes to 2-0-2 on the year.

How it happened :
The game commenced with both teams displaying strong defense and preventing many opportunities for shots on goal.

The Cascades' first real opportunity came in the 37th minute of the game, as UFV's Zoe Black put in a cross to Kiana Langston, but her shot sailed just outside the post on the right side of the net.

TRU pressed offensively to start the second half, holding the bulk of possession, but the Cascades held defensively. As the half wore on, UFV looked the more likely team to find a breakthrough, but would not find a decisive chance, and the match would finish scoreless.

Notable :
UFV goalkeeper Alana Madec notched her second clean sheet of the season in the match.

Quotable:
UFV defender Camryn Lyon
"I think we really stood our ground, and then moving forward were just going to keep holding that standard."

"I think that we've been working a lot on our defensive shape, and I think that, as defenders, we communicate a lot, and we have a lot of trust in one another so I think we have that bond between all of us and we're going to keep working together."

Up Next :
Next weekend UFV is back at Rotary Stadium in Abbotsford to take on the UNBC Timberwolves on Friday. Then on Saturday they are up against the UBCO  Heat with both games starting at 5:30pm.
