Abbotsford, BC – Despite falling behind twice in the match, a pair of goals from
Kiana Langston earned the UFV Cascades women's soccer team a point in a hard-fought draw with the UBCO Heat on Saturday at Rotary Stadium.
The Cascades saw their record move to 2-2-2 on the season with the draw, while UBCO picked up their first point of the season through four matches.
How it happened :
The Heat struck the first blow, as just eight minutes in Aileen Ryou tipped a cross to Brooke Burrows and her shot would find the back of the net.
UFV's Langston pulled the hosts level in the 32
nd minute, when she picked up a headed ball from
Catie Cameron in midfield, before firing a looping shot over the keeper and into the goal.
After some back and forth on the field, UBCO found another edge before the break. UFV goalkeeper
Addy Chen was unable to corral a shot from Haden Thomas, and Maria Georgacos was first on the spot to fire home the rebound.
The Cascades ramped up the pressure in the second half, and it would be Langston that would find another decisive opening in the 76
th minute. After picking up a pass from
Jenna Ericson at the top of the box, the UFV striker would blast it past the charging UBCO goalkeeper to tie it up at two.

Langston's two goals on the night puts her at three for the season, and matches her total from last season through just six games so far.
