Vancouver, BC: A strong first half from the UFV Cascades put the pressure on the U SPORTS No. 1 ranked UBC Thunderbirds, but the hosts responded with a three goal second half to claim a 3-0 win on Friday in Vancouver.
This loss brings UFV to 2-3-2, while UBC goes to 7-0 for the 2026 season.
How it happened :
UFV was the only team to register any first-half shots on target, with
Kiana Langston's long ranger with 10 minutes of the half remaining as their only real test of UBC goalkeeper Emma Sparrow.
UBC came out strong in the second half, as Sophie Harrison blasted a shot over the bar from close range in the 46th minute, before UFV keeper
Alana Madec turned away an Ella Santarsieri shot minutes later.
The breakthrough came in the 58th minute when Maddy Norman rose well to head home a Santarsieri corner for her 7th goal in as many matches.
Santarsieri doubled the lead from outside the box in the 65th minute, and Carreira sealed the deal with three minutes remaining when she tucked away a rebound after a save from Madec fell to her in the six-yard box.

UFV tallied 2 shots on goal in the opening half, while holding UBC without a shot on target in the first 45.
