The Cascades, after dropping both games last weekend on the road vs. the VIU Mariners, look to get back in the win column against a College of the Rockies squad which is on an early-season roll.

The Avalanche, following an opening-weekend bye, launched their PACWEST schedule in impressive fashion last week with a pair of wins over a traditionally strong Douglas Royals program which has been to three straight PACWEST finals, winning the title in 2018.

The Cascades, for their part, showed improvement over their weekend at VIU, pushing the defending national champs to five sets on Saturday after falling in three straight the night before. They'll look to build on that vs. COTR.

"It's about getting back into practice and being intentional about the areas we need to make improvements," UFV head coach Janelle Rozema said. "But we also need to be realistic about the fact that it's going to be small incremental improvements each day that are going to pay off. We need to trust the process that we'll get better in those categories over time."

Players to watch: Cascades outside hitter Chelsea Kidd is off to a strong start to her senior season. The Surrey, B.C. product ranks 12th in the conference in both kills (1.93/set) and total offence (2.43 points/set), and is ninth in aces (0.50/set) and 17th in digs (1.93/set). On the Avalanche side of the net, setter Katie Friesen is the reigning PACWEST player of the week, having racked up 61 assists and 15 digs over the two Douglas victories.
