THE MATCH-UP
At the midpoint of the season, the Cascades and WolfPack find themselves outside the playoff picture looking in, and both programs will be looking to climb the standings at the expense of the other this weekend.
RECENT FORM
Both teams are seeking their first win of the conference schedule. The Cascades have weathered the most difficult stretch of its regular-season schedule already, and found something to build on in
last Sunday's 2-1 loss to UBC as they became the first team to score against the Thunderbirds this season. TRU, meanwhile, is coming off a pair of home-field losses vs. TWU last weekend, by scores of 4-1 and 3-1.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Halle McCambley, UFV – The sophomore midfielder infuses the Cascades with energy thanks to her tireless work rate, and she was rewarded with a goal on Sunday vs. UBC.
Makaela Gelowitz, TRU – The rookie forward from Langley, B.C. scored her first career goal last weekend vs. TWU, and she sits second on the team with nine shots on target.
QUOTABLE
"It's definitely exciting to travel a little further from home, because we've been waiting quite some time to do that. It will be nice to be with the girls for a longer period of time, and bond. We haven't played TRU in two years, and it's going to be good competition, I think. We're looking for a win, and we're going in with the mindset that we can do it."
– Cascades right back Alanna Sydenham, on the road trip to TRU
"We have played our toughest teams (on the schedule already), and we're ready to go. We're ready for a win. It's not going to be easy against TRU, but I think if we can build off our positives, we'll go into this weekend ready to play, ready to win."
– Cascades midfielder Jenna Mele
