THE MATCH-UP

Perennial powerhouse Trinity Western moved up to No. 2 in the freshest batch of U SPORTS national rankings, released Tuesday. They've proven a formidable foe for the Cascades, whose last regular-season win over the Spartans came back in 2010.

RECENT FORM

The Cascades posted a pair of scoreless draws on opening weekend vs. UVic, and while they weren't able to connect offensively, posting back-to-back clean sheets against an opponent ranked No. 6 in the nation at the time is no small accomplishment. The undefeated Spartans will test their defensive structure – they racked up 11 goals over a pair of weekend wins at UNBC.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Joven Sandhu and Andrea Perkovic, UFV – The Cascades' twin clean sheets vs. UVic came via two different goalkeepers, with Sandhu flawless last Friday and Perkovic perfect on Sunday. The team has complete confidence in their two veteran standouts.

Anna Dunn, TWU – The fourth-year forward is the reigning Canada West women's soccer athlete of the week after racking up two goals and five assists in blowout wins at UNBC.

QUOTABLE

"I think our players are open, excited and welcoming the challenge against Trinity Wetsern. It's always going to be a tough time playing at their field, with them being a top-tier team in Canada. However, our players are not only ready and willing to embrace the competition, they're confident in our approach and our abilities, and we're hopefully going to display that this weekend." – Cascades head coach Niko Marcina, on the match-up vs. TWU

"I think we're overall excited about how well we can defend as a team, and how confident we are in our goalkeepers. Our team can close down spaces quickly, which allows us to be explosive on offence. This week we've been working on our transition to offence, and hopefully we have some opportunities this weekend to display that." – Marcina, reflecting on his team's play last week vs. UVic
