MSOC: Szymanski, Brazinha, De Souza, and Mailand earn conference All-Star recognition

The UFV Cascades men's soccer team capped off a fantastic regular season with a historic showing in the Canada West All-Star and All-Rookie selections.

The Cascades earned three First-Team All-Star selections, one Second-team All-Star selection, and one All-Rookie Team selection. That marks the most All-Star recognition by any UFV program in a single Canada West season.

First-Team selections included reigning CW Player of the Year Mateo Brazinha, who led the conference with 13 goals in 13 matches. The dynamic forward was joined by stalwart defender Adam Szymanski and rookie goalkeeper Matheus De Souza, who earned the rare distinction of being named to both the All-Star and All-Rookie teams after setting a new program single-season shutout record earlier this year.

Kevin Mailand earned a Canada West Second-Team All-Star nod to round out the Cascades selections.

The Cascades now get set for a rematch of last season's Canada West quarterfinal, as they take on the Calgary Dinos at 4pm at UBC's Thunderbird Stadium. The game will also be seen on Canada West TV.
