THE MATCH-UP

Cascades-Spartans match-ups are always highly competitive affairs, and both teams will be eager to bank points during a shortened 12-game conference schedule. The last time the two teams played, back in 2019, the Cascades earned a sweep with midfielder Trevor Zanatta netting the game-winning goal on back-to-back nights.

RECENT FORM

The Cascades are coming off a 1-0 loss and a scoreless draw on opening weekend vs. UVic. While their defensive play was stout, they're looking to get on track offensively. The Spartans, meanwhile, are undefeated over four conference games, yet just picked up their first win (3-0 on Saturday at UNBC) after opening the season with three straight draws.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Tobias Spiess, UFV – The rookie centre back from Germany has stepped into the starting lineup and made an immediate impact. He was selected as the Cascades' game MVP on Sunday vs. UVic.

Soren Di Sabatino, TWU – The sophomore midfielder found the net twice in Saturday's win at UNBC.

QUOTABLE

"We need to be sharper in our attack and find better ways to break teams down, and ultimately put the ball in the back of the net. I thought we defended really well, though. We looked solid, we looked organized, and we were really good defensively. Away from home is slightly different, and we need to make sure we carry that on this weekend." – Cascades head coach Tom Lowndes, on his team's play vs. UVic

"It's always massive games vs. Trinity. Both teams get up for it and both teams enjoy it. Off the back of the last time we played in 2019 when we were able to get a couple results, I think they'll be extra motivated to come out and prove a point. They're well-coached, quality program. We're looking forward to it." – Lowndes, on the derby matches vs. TWU
