The University of the Fraser Valley women's soccer team wrapped up its preseason schedule with a 4-2 loss on the road to the Seattle Pacific Falcons.
The Cascades fell behind 2-0 early, but rallied after halftime to level the score 2-2.
Brittney Zacharuk got UFV on the board, bending in a corner kick off the keeper, and
Kate Fisher scored the equalizer shortly thereafter. The NCAA Div. II Falcons, though, scored twice in the dying minutes to claim the victory.
"It's been a good preseason, but not the best way to end it," said Cascades head coach
Rob Giesbrecht, whose team posted a 4-3-0 record in exhibition action including three wins over NCAA opponents. "I didn't think we were very sharp tonight, and we paid the price against a talented team. Good learning opportunity for us, and we'll see how we respond to it."
The Cascades open the Canada West regular season next week on the road vs. UVic (Sept. 6, 5 p.m.) and UBC (Sept. 7, 6:30 p.m.).Home-opening weekend sees them host the Manitoba Bisons (Sept. 13) and the Winnipeg Wesmen (Sept. 14). Both games start at 5:30 p.m. at MRC Sports Complex.
